Please join us for our second Foothill Town Hall, Thursday, February 14th from 8:30-9:30a in the cafeteria.
What's a Town Hall? We're glad you asked! One of the things that makes Foothill special is our sense of community. On the second Thursday of each month, your Foothill PTO will host this event as a chance to come together, ask questions and simply get to know other Foothill families. This is also an opportunity for an open Q&A opportunity with Mr. Vanderpol. An informal discussion featuring any questions or comments you might have. This is also a great opportunity to meet other parents within the community and say Happy New Year to those that you are already familiar with. And, of course, THERE WILL BE COFFEE!

WHAT IS GIVE TO GROW? Give to Grow is a capital campaign with the purpose of providing one-time money for school initiatives that strategically work toward our shared vision and goals. Our vision states: At Foothill Elementary, we are committed to creating an engaging environment that nurtures the whole child. Our interdisciplinary approaches to learning are inquiry-based, student-centered and collaborative. We challenge all learners through differentiation and measure their success in multiple ways to truly reflect their individual growth and progress. The Give to Grow initiative is not intended to replace Fund the Fox, and is distinctly different in that it targets specific, innovative improvements at Foothill Elementary. Based on input from Foothill staff, parents and students, money raised for this year's Give to Grow campaign will go towards experiential learning opportunities and innovative furniture. We are in the initial stages of collecting donation items for the auction from local businesses. If you have a local business or have a connection to a local business, we would love your support. Do you have a special talent? We are looking for people to host experiential events to auction off (e.g. wine/beer tasting, cocktail making night, cooking class, jewelry making, knitting, informational learning classes etc.) Do you personally have items that you would be willing to donate? (e.g. vacation rentals, season sports tickets, massage, acupuncture, interior design etc…) Please contact Alexis Schwartz at foothillpto.fundraising@gmail.com if you are able to donate to our event or if you have any questions. Your Foothill PTO is very excited to be offering a new program in conjunction with Crayola. It’s called Crayola ColorCycle– an amazing program devised to repurpose used markers rather than sending them to landfills!
The ColorCycle program has repurposed more than 70 tons of expended markers in the United States and Canada since 2013, and uses the most advanced plastic conversion technologies available today to make wax compounds for asphalt and roofing shingles as well as to generate electricity that can be used to heat homes, cook food, and power vehicles. Last week, each classroom at Foothill began collecting used markers that would otherwise be discarded. You can support this effort at home by sending any used markers you may have around the house- even non-Crayola brands! - to school with your child to deposit in their classroom bin. Highlighters and dry erase markers will also be collected. Thank you in advance for your support and participation! With the help of families like you across the country, the Crayola ColorCycle program can continue to keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year. We hope you'll join us at our Feed the Foxes dine out event NEXT WEEK at Proto's Pizza.
Tuesday, January 22nd - All day Proto’s Pizza 4670 North Broadway Foothill will receive 10% of all day sales up to $2,500 OR 15% of all day sales if total is over $2,500. Did you know that our school donates lost and found items at the end of each month?! Our newest fundraiser with Mabel's Labels is a win/win as your student's stuff will stay out of lost and found and you'll be raising money for Foothill at the same time!
Mabel’s Labels are personalized, peel & stick, super-durable labels that safely go in the laundry, dishwasher and microwave. They’re loved by parents & kids alike. And they’re perfect for all your kids’ stuff – from shoes and clothes to water bottles, lunch boxes, backpacks and more! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Mabel's Labels as a parent and a teacher. I put them on all of our lunch containers, water bottles and lunch boxes. The same labels have been on our stainless steel containers (which have been through the dishwasher a zillion times) since my daughter started Boulder Journey School 8 years ago! We also put them on jackets and hats! As a teacher I can't tell you how many containers I have held up at the end of the day and no one notices that it is their container. Don't get me started on the one black glove or black snow pants.... - Anna Dicorleto Foothill 1st Grade Teacher Now when you order, not only will your stuff easily be returned to you, but Foothill will also receive 20% of proceeds as well. Click here to order and choose “Foothill Elementary School PTO (Boulder)” from the School/Organization list. Eager to learn about the pressures that are unique to being a girl in 2018 and how you can help girls navigate these challenges with confidence?
We invite you to join Girls Leadership’s Colorado Program Manager, Kim O’Malley as she guides parents and teachers in how to help girls practice assertive self-expression, emotional intelligence, and healthy relationships, preparing them for a life of personal and societal leadership. Did you know that Colorado ranks in the lower third among the states in public-school spending per pupil? Say what?! That’s right, we are number 39 nationally among the 50 states in public school per pupil spending!
How can we begin to make up for the shortfall that isn’t provided by the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD), state, and federal sources? That’s where Foothill Elementary PTO’s Fund the Fox campaign comes in. The program provides critical funding for the staffing and resources that help to make our school the healthy and safe place for learning that we know it to be. In order to meet the budgetary goals of the school, provide necessary personnel to support our students, and to equip our teachers with what is needed to run their classrooms, the Foothill PTO is asking for a suggested donation of $275 per student. However, contributing to Fund the Fox is voluntary. Please give at a level that is appropriate for your family. No donation is too big or too small! Our goal is to achieve 100% participation from all Foothill families. Click here to view this year's PTO budget. Funds raised through our annual Fund the Fox campaign will support:
This is our chance to come together as a community to give our staff and students the resources they need to be successful teachers and learners. Families who contribute to Fund the Fox by September 30, 2018 will receive a limited edition Foothill Fox tote bag. (One tote bag per family.) Our preference is to receive contributions online. If you choose to submit cash or check, please deliver in a marked envelope to the Foothill office. Checks should be made out to “Foothill PTO” with Fund the Fox in the memo. The Foothill Elementary PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible. Every year matching gifts from employers provide thousands of dollars to Fund the Fox. Please send any and all matching paperwork you receive to foothillpto.treasurer@gmail.com. The beginning of a new school year means meeting new families in our Foothill community.
