Just because summer break is around the corner doesn’t mean that learning has to stop! All incoming 1st-5th graders are invited to join us for our summer Fox Book Swaps! Interested in picking up a new book to enjoy over the summer? Share a favorite book? Participate in a fun book exchange with other Foxes? That’s what it’s all about!
Students should choose one book that they have read and loved, and that they are ready to find a new home for (library books cannot be used for the book exchange – the books must belong to the student and be lent out with parent permission). The goal of our exchange is to end up with books that we’ll love – so readers should bring a book that they think their classmates will enjoy.
A great BIG thank you to Mr. Warshaw and Ms. Hoskins for this awesome idea and for helping to organize. So appreciate their support!
Fox Book Swaps will be held on June 12th, July 17th and August 7th on the Foothill front lawn from 3-3:30 p.m. and all students should be accompanied by an adult.

Mr. E and Mrs. O would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Amy and Randy MacIntosh for bringing the music of Zimbabwe to our students at Foothill. Kutandara Center was founded in 1999 by Amy and Randy and they have been parents in our Foothill community since their daughter Eliza began kindergarten five years ago. Amy and Randy taught all classes kindergarten through fifth grade for six days giving each class the opportunity to learn and play the marimba and mbira. The six full days of instruction were a gift to our Foothill community and we are grateful for their donation of time and energy to help our students understand the importance of learning music from Zimbabwe.
If you are interested in taking classes and learning the music of Zimbabwe for yourself please visit www.kutandara.org.
What if we told you that you could win a four night trip to an amazing ranch in Wyoming for only $25? It's true!
Newly added to our 2018 Give to Grow event is the popular Heads or Tails auction game.
What is the Heads or Tails auction game?
The winner of the Heads or Tails game will receive a 4 night stay at the A Bar A Ranch! Along the banks of the North Platte River, in the heart of southern Wyoming’s Medicine Bow Mountains, lies the A Bar A Ranch. Established in 1922, it is one of the oldest guest ranches in the country. It is also one of the largest, with nearly 100,000 acres for guests and staff to explore. This is a magical place, where generations of families and friends create summer memories together.
Don't wait! Purchase your tickets to Give to Grow.
Shari Polis came in to all Kindergarten-5th grade PE classes this month to teach dance as part of Fitness February. Shari taught a hip hop dance mix, “Basketball,” to the school. Ask your kids to show you the hip hop moves they learned in dance (“top rocks,” “six step”)! Everyone performed the dance at the talent show earlier this month. Both videos shown are of one of the third grade classes during their class.
It was a fun week of dance in PE! A big thank you Shari and to Mr. B, who especially loved the dance as basketball is his favorite sport!

Please help our Foothill community gather food & toiletries for the EFAA (Emergency Family Assistance Association).
The EFAA serves Boulder County residents. It’s main focus is on families, seniors and people with disabilities. The EFAA works with each family to help them meet critical immediate needs and access the resources they need for long-term success. It’s goal is for low-income families to find stability and elevate their life situation for themselves and their children.
We will gather food and toiletry donations until December 18, 2017. Donations may be placed in the bins by the office.

The Foothill PTO Board recently partnered with Native Edge Landscapes as part of a broader, longer term program to beautify the Foothill Elementary school grounds. The first piece of this initiative has been completed and included cleaning up and installing edging, mulch and new plantings in the gardens near the front entrance to the school.
Over time the objective will be to clean up or install new landscaping in the other garden areas surrounding the building through Native Edge or other vendors, as well as through staff and parent volunteer efforts.
A great big thank you to Native Edge for joining us as a Community Partner for the 2017-18 school year at the Gold level. You can find out more about our Community Partner program, here.
Stop by the library thru Thursday, November 16th for our annual book fair. It’s like a bookstore, but better!
There are special, more affordable versions of books. For example, a hardcover might be $16.95 at a bookstore, but at the book fair the same book, in paperback, might be $3.95. There are also a variety of gift items.
Our teachers will have a chance to preview the books and create “wish lists” for their classroom libraries. Families can help build classroom libraries by purchasing books from these lists.
The book fair also helps Foothill earn funds to improve the school library!
VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED TO MAKE THE BOOKFAIR A SUCCESS
Background checks are not required to volunteer at this event. Please sign up here to volunteer for a shift or two. We especially need help covering 8-8:15 am every morning and also 3-4 pm each afternoon.
