If you haven't been back to see our garden lately please go check it out. Our kids have been very busy planting and learning in our school garden, and our outdoor classroom space just keeps getting better. With the addition of this new outdoor sink and prep area we are going to be able to expand the lesson possibilities. BIG thanks to Stewart Booker, one of our Foothill Parents and owner of Base Building for donating his time and managing the build-out of our outdoor structure and for building us our own outdoor sink and prep space. If you are in need of a General Contractor it's great to support parents that support our school. You can reach Stewart at 310-710-3743.

Earth Day at Foothill was a great celebration!! It was wonderful to see so many students, staff and parents Walking and Wheeling to School. Great press coverage by the Daily Camera. Thank you to everyone who participated in beautifying our school yard. Check out the stone mosaic added by the Landscape Committee to the "FOX" in the garden with the Foothill sign. A big thank you to THE TREE FARM for donating the Honey Crisp Apple Tree we planted by the Garden-to-Table garden. The K-2 Classes were entertained by the lively Environmental Music & Performances for Kids by Jeff Kagan & Paige Doughty. Please continue to help the Landscape Committee clean-up the courtyard and gardens. Even 10 minutes helps. If you have perennials that you are dividing consider adding the extras to the Foothill gardens.
THANKS FOR ATTENDING OUR PTO MEETINGS, SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

Garden to Table is getting ready for spring! 1st grade students will be planting lettuce before spring break. In May, 2nd-graders will harvest the lettuce for a school-wide salad treat. There will be lots more happening in the garden this spring, so come and check it out! If you would like to participate, ask your child's teacher to put you in touch with the grade-level parent liaison. Many hands in the garden make light work, and a delicious harvest! |
BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY- A HUGE SUCCESS! Thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped make Bike to School Day a fantastic day. We couldn't have done it without you. A big thanks to Ann Cooper for handing out apples and Twirl for providing frozen yogurt- such delicious treats! We had over 180 kids bike to school last Thursday, and Foothill kids have taken 1500 car-free trips so far in April. Let's keep cars away from Foothill by continuing to bike and walk through the end of the year. We're highlighting our children's great artwork every week. Check back regularly to see if your child's artwork is featured.

Shop online and raise money for Foothill Elementary!"Stacey for Schools" is a year round fundraiser for Foothill! "Stacey for Schools" is unique in that donations are based on purchases that you are make anyway. Go to "Stacey for Schools", select Foothill Elementary, and select your retailer's website. Stacey has agreements with hundreds of retailers including Target, Nordstrom and Best Buy. Shop as usual and check out with the retailer on their own website, at no additional cost to you. "Stacey" then gets a percent of purchase back which she sends on to our school. It makes so much sense because it take 2 seconds and can generate hundreds! Check it out! For questions, please contact Christine Suchor, PTO Pres. of Fundraising. Check it out at StaceyforSchools.org. THE STUDENT DIRECTORY HAS BEEN UPDATED FOR THE LAST TIME THIS SCHOOL YEAR.
WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE NEW ONLINE VERSION OF THE STUDENT DIRECTORY THIS YEAR. AN UPDATED VERSION WILL BE AVAILABLE IN AUGUST! Communication has just become a lot easier!
The student directory is searchable and the email addresses are linked for your convenience. Two ways to make it easy to communicate with your friends and school teachers! To view this directory on your mobile device, just click on the 'pdf for mobiles' version. If you have an iPad or iPhone, you can open this file into your iBooks and view it as part of your pdf library - all searchable, linkable and bookmarkable - remarkable! This directory is to be used only by the families and staff of Foothill Elementary School for social and school related needs. This directory is not to be used for any business or political purposes. Julia Urquhart PTO PR/MARKETING All insertions to the website must be emailed to julia@kiwigirl.us on Thursday BY 5PM for Tuesday morning inclusion. Teachers, please feel welcome to contribute to this site - there is a 'T' in PTO :) |
